1. Grishneshwar Temple : Grishneshwar temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva scattered across the country. Revered and worshipped all along the year, visiting Jyotirlinga Grishneshwar temple is one of the pious things to do in Aurangabad.
2. Bhadra Maruti Temple : Bhadra Maruti Temple is one of the three places where Lord Hanuman is displayed in his sleeping postures after the Yamuna at Allahabad and Jam Sawali in Madhya Pradesh.
3. Aurangabad Caves : Aurangabad caves is a cluster of 2000-year old caves situated right behind the famous bibi-ka-maqbara. These 12-rock cut Buddhist shrines date back to the 6th and 8th century and are carved out of soft Basalt rock.
4. Bibi-Ka-Maqbara : The famous tomb of Dilras Banu Begum commissioned by her husband Aurangzeb in 1660 is famous for its resemblance to the world-renowned Taj-Mahal in Agra.
5. Ajanta Caves : These ancient Buddhist caves date back to the 2nd Century BCE, and relics on the walls of the cave give you a brilliant insight into Buddhist art, architecture, scripture and culture.
6. Ellora Caves : It has also been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its historical value since it was built between 600 – 1000 CE. The cave consists of a massive temple complex, cut entirely out of a rock, and featuring iconography from Buddhist, Jain and Hindu scriptures.
7. Daulatabad Fort : Daulatabad Fort is also known as Deogiri or Devagiri. The fort consists of massive turrets, an imposing gate and other relics from the time of the Delhi Sultanate.
8. Parli Vaidyanath Jyotirlinga Temple : Temple is sitting on the slopes of the Meru and Naga Narayana mountains. Parli has an old-world charm exuding out and is a quaint village situated near the rivers Saraswati, Brahma, and Venu. The village covers the fifth ‘jyotirlinga’ called the Parli Vaidyanath Jyotirlinga, a major site for the Hindu pilgrims.
9. Siddharth Garden : It sprawls over a large area and also encompasses a zoo inside along with a couple of swings, slides, and rides to keep the children entertained. Besides the rides, there is also a tiny aquarium and a musical water fountain show.
10. Shrimant Chatrapati Shivaji Museum : The museum displays some antiques such as the 500-year-old war suit, a 400-year old Paithani Sari and the hand-written copy of the Quran by Aurangzeb along with many war weapons and antiques used by the ruler.
11. Panchakki : Located adjacent to the popular Bibi-ka-Maqbara, Panchakki is an ancient watermill. It is an excellent architecture that picked its name from the mill that pulverizes grains for the pilgrims. It is encircled in the complex of Baba Sahi Musafir dargah and was also used for generating hydro energy from a spring on a mountain. It was built in the year 1734 and is known as Nehar-e-Panchakki.
12. Pitalkhora Caves : The Pitalkhora Caves are an ancient rock cut cave belonging to 2nd century BC and are one of the finest examples of Buddhist architecture in India. The count of cave monuments here is around 14 and are divided into two different groups – one containing 10 cave monuments and the other one containing about 4. There are steep concrete stairs juxtaposed a waterfall.
13. Salim Ali Lake : Built by the Mughals several hundred years ago, this beautiful lake is the perfect place for nature lovers to spend a peaceful evening walking and watching the birds that come and go in the area.
14. Jayakwadi Dam and Bird Sanctuary : If you travel 52 km from Aurangabad, you can reach Jayakwadi Dam, which is a stunning place for picnics and bird-watching in the adjacent sanctuary.
15. Sunheri Mahal : It is a lustrous palace of lime and stone. This grand palace is spread across two floors and reflects the purest form of royal Indian architecture.
